From film sets with Kubrick and Spielberg to chart-topping music production, Nigel Butler’s career is a journey of creative transformation. After an unexpected shift from film to music, he partnered with Ray Hedges to work with acts like Steps, S Club 7, Tom Jones, One Direction and The Struts, along with collaborations with Phil Manzanera, The Charlatans and Aerosmith.
Nigel’s credits include the Grammy-nominated 1 Giant Leap and work on major TV shows like F1: Drive to Survive, X Factor, the official music for the Rio Olympics plus movie trailers for films such as Batman Vs Superman and Geostorm.
His recent projects with Chicane and Giles Martin continue to bring his style to global audiences.

Nigel Butler's journey is a tale of transformation, spanning from scenic artist for film giants like Kubrick, Terry Gilliam, Ridley Scott, and Spielberg to a prolific career in music.
A serendipitous arm-wrestling accident redirected his path from movies to music, leading to a dynamic partnership with Ray Hedges. Together, they wrote and/or produced songs for a multitude of acts, including Steps, S Club 7, The Struts, Chicane, Tom Jones and Eartha Kitt, among many others.
Nigel's versatility also led him to working with diverse acts from The Charlatans & Nina Hagen to One Direction.
His involvement with the Grammy nominated act 1 Giant Leap yielded the UK top ten hit ‘My Culture’ featuring artists Robbie Williams, Maxi Jazz & Baaba Maal and also featured collaborations with artists such as Michael Stipe, KD Lang, Carlos Santana & Neneh Cherry.
His credits extend to theme tunes for major TV shows, top ten & chart-topping singles and productions for many TV shows including F1: Drive To Survive, X Factor, the National Television Awards & the official theme music for the Rio Olympic Games.
Nigel's ongoing collaboration with Chicane has seen recent successes, with multiple chart-toppers in dance charts across the globe, including the UK and USA.
Additionally, Nigel has collaborated with Giles Martin on projects for Aerosmith, Metallica and Elton John and, with Ray Hedges, worked with Simon Cowell on numerous TV shows including nine seasons of the X Factor and nine seasons of Britain's Got Talent.
